Who We Are and What We Do

The Community Advice and Law Service (CALS) is a not-for-profit organisation, registered charity and company limited by guarantee.  Our services are free and targeted towards individuals most at risk of social exclusion. We work closely with other providers to reach communities who are most in need.

We ensure that our work meets the quality assured standards as set by the Legal Services Commission and CALS holds a contract with The Money Advice Service for the East Midlands Money Advice Partnership. We deliver advice in four areas of social welfare law; Debt, Housing, Welfare Benefits and Employment.

Services for Individuals:

Delivery of advice through casework and telephone advice; advice sessions at our outreach venues; representation at court.

Services for Communities:

Financial capability and education, training.

Services for Organisations:

Consultancy, information, training and support services.
