In relaunching our web site we have incorporated a number of features on the site, in addition to those available in browser software, which we hope will improve the accessibility of our site to visitors. These improvements include an ability to change the size of the text, different colour contrasts and a low graphics version of the site. We are also using ‘ALT’ tags more thoroughly on the site where images are used and have reduced the number of images used.
Different design options were circulated amongst some CALS members and staff who were interested in helping us improve our website accessibility and we have tried to incorporate as much of their feedback as possible. Thanks to everyone who helped by making comments on that.
More of our staff are maintaining pages following the site’s relaunch, and as part of their training to do this the importance of accessibility and ensuring standards are maintained is emphasised to them.
We appreciate the digital world continues to develop and we will endeavour to keep up-to-date with these changes and will incorporate them where possible in future site developments.
