We seek to deliver this mission by:

Providing free, independent, confidential and quality-assured legal advice services to individuals across the area of benefit, for the advantage of the public, subject to funding constraints

Promoting self-help where appropriate and offer casework support for those unable to deal with legal matters alone

Ensuring that all services are available to all sections of the population irrespective of sex, gender, race, ethnic origin, disability, age, nationality, national origin, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy and maternity, and social class, and challenging all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination.

CALS works in partnership with a wide range of other organisations to promote access to high quality, timely advice across Leicester and Leicestershire. We also play a leading role in promoting collaboration between advice agencies across the East Midlands region in order to support the wider development of the advice sector. For example, CALS is currently the lead organisation for the East Midlands Money Advice project as well as the East Midlands Immigration Network.

Due to funding restrictions, some of our services may be limited to residents of specific geographical areas.

We strive to bring about changes in social policy through participation in consultation, debate and challenge.

We take pride in operating professional manner and ensure that high quality standards are applied and maintained throughout all aspects of service provision. Our services are accredited by Lexcel, the legal practice quality mark.
